Boarding
FreeFlight features the only outdoor boarding facility in San Diego for your parrot to enjoy it's own open perch with the company of the flock, in a tropical setting. While outside, your bird will be closely supervised by our trained staff members and will also get to interact with our visitors throughout the day ensuring plenty of interaction, attention and mental stimulation while you are away. (Off limits to visitors is also available upon request). In the evenings, your bird will have it's own cage which gets cleaned on a daily basis where you can leave your bird's favorite toys.
Food is also provided for your companion bird. We offer premium seed, pellets, nuts and a fresh variety of fruit and vegetables are provided daily for a high quality diet.
All our staff members are trained in parrot behavior and medical attention. Being next door to the Animal and Bird Hospital of Del Mar, you can be sure that should your parrot become ill or injured while boarding it will immediately receive the best care possible.
We require annual veterinary check-ups including bloodwork, cultures, and the Polyoma vaccine in order to attain the safest and healthiest environment for all the birds that stay with us. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Our Fall Boarding hours are from 10am – 4pm daily, Wednesday 10am - 3pm

Small Birds: Cockateils, Love Birds, Budgies, Parrotlets.
Medium Birds: African Grey, Eclectus, Amazons, Pionus, Goffins Cockatoos, Rose Breased Cockatoos, Senegal types, Conures, Mini Macaws, Hawk Heads, Greater Vasa Parrots.
Large Birds: Macaws, Umbrella Cockatoos, Moluccan Cockatoos, Sulfur Crested Cockatoos.
Two birds in one cage is 1/2 price for the second bird. Longer term boarding is available at discounted rates, please contact us for more information.
Grooming
Our staff has been extensively trained on how to provide quality grooming services, in order to make the process as stress-free as possible for your bird. We offer wing clipping, nail trimming and beak cleaning for all species of birds.
Public Viewing
As part of our effort to help all companion birds and educate the public, FreeFlight is open 7 days a week to the public (weather permitting) for anyone to see and interact with our exotic birds. Come down to see us!
Admission: $5 for adults, $2 for children under 13
Hours of Operation: Fall/Winter hours: 10am – 4pm & Wednesday s 10a, - 2pm (weather permitting)
Groups and Field Trips are welcome with advanced notice
Breeding
Our interest lies in propagating some of the more rare species such as Cuban Amazons, Golden Conures, Hyacinth Macaws, Black Palm Cockatoos and Caiques as well as the more common companion parrots.
Education
One of our goals is to provide the public with the proper information on what it takes to care for a companion parrot. If you are considering adding a parrot to your family, we can discuss with you all the care requirements for your bird. If you already have a companion parrot but have behavior or health questions, feel free to ask us anything and we'd be glad to talk with you about you and your bird.
Bird Shows
If you are interested in seeing and learning about our wonderful exotic birds, we are available for public and private bird shows. We can travel to your location with several of our birds for showing and educational seminars. Everyone can interact with the birds and see how wonderful they truly are!
Prices: $200/hr. (2 hr. minimum)
Travel & Set-Up Fee: $50-$100 depending on location
